Plagiarism Policy
Definition of Plagiarism: Plagiarism includes but is not limited to the copying of text, ideas, images, or data from another source without adequate acknowledgment, even if it is from the author's own work (self-plagiarism). This includes the use of materials without proper citations and the submission of identical or substantially similar work to more than one publication simultaneously.
Detection: The journal utilizes plagiarism detection software to screen submitted manuscripts for similarity to previously published works. Manuscripts found to have significant overlap with other works are subject to further investigation.
Author Responsibility: Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.
Handling of Plagiarism:
Minor Plagiarism: Minor instances of copied content without proper citation will be highlighted to the authors for correction before the review process continues.
Major Plagiarism: In cases of substantial plagiarism, the manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) may be prohibited from submitting to the journal in the future. The authors' affiliated institutions may also be notified.
Consequences: The journal reserves the right to retract published articles that are subsequently found to contain significant plagiaristic content and to publish notices to the community regarding the retraction.
Appeals: Authors have the right to appeal against any plagiarism allegations by providing evidence of originality or proper citation. Appeals are reviewed by an independent committee appointed by the editorial board.
Preventative Measures: The journal provides guidelines and educational resources on proper citation and referencing to assist authors in understanding the ethical and legal aspects of publishing original research.
Continuous Monitoring: Articles published in the journal may be periodically screened to ensure compliance with the journal's plagiarism policy and to maintain the integrity of the academic record.
This policy aims to deter plagiarism and to ensure that all articles published in the "Journal of Quantum Science and Technology" maintain the highest ethical standards of scholarly publication.
